SKELTON CREW STUDIOS returns to our FCBD event!

Israel Skelton founded the Skelton Crew Studio in 2008 and it was behind IDW’s SDCC exclusive Ghost Key in 2009. Israel has been sculpting and creating for more than 30 years, ever since making Thor’s hammer out of a CedarWorks swing set mallet. (He wrapped the handle in medical tape, colored it with a brown marker and ruled the backyard.)

Since starting the studio, Israel has created merchandise for many award winning properties, including CHEW, Locke & Key, Hellboy, The Stuff of Legend, Mouse Guard, Killogy, The Squidder, Revival, Head Looper and more! He works in variety of media, including metal, wood, plush and vinyl.

Later this year, Skelton Crew Studio will be releasing a vinyl Norgal statue from Head Lopper, and an Em Cypress mini-bust from Revival.

Israel makes his home in rural Maine with his wife Kathryn, two sons and one loafing corgi. When he’s not sculpting, he enjoys amassing hardcover graphic novels, collecting original comic art and bare knuckle brawling.

So many children won't make it to Free Comic Book Day but the Copper Comics Initiative wants to make sure they get comic books, too.

The Copper Comics Initiative has one objective: donating comics to children's hospitals and pediatric care centers.  Several facilities already take in donations of books and such already but patients that have autoimmune complications are sometimes turned away, as the books stand a significantly higher risk of being exposed to something that could compromise the patient's health.  What we hope to do is collect donations from the public to finance subscriptions or pre-purchased lots of comics to be delivered directly to the hospitals themselves, eliminating a high amount of the public exposure these books see before being given to the kids.

Ultimately we just want to make sure every kid gets a fair chance to take a break from reality for a few minutes, regardless of their health.

Watch for donation buckets around town, on Free Comic Book Day as well as participating vendors & businesses that are offering their support.  Every little bit helps.
Jetpack Comics will be offering a special deal to all FCBD attendees that make a donation.

Rochester Main Street (the people that make our Free Comic Book Day Festival possible), our favorite non-profit organization, has teamed up with TD Bank and you can help RMS earn money...and it costs you NOTHING!  If you have a TD Bank account all you have to do is ask to have it linked to The Rochester Main Street Affinity Program!  In honesty, it took my teller 10 minutes to figure out what that meant, but it happened - - eventually.  Now Rochester Main Street earns money based on the balances that I (and Jetpack Comics) carries with their bank.  It does not cost you a PENNY but it assures that TD Bank donates money to Rochester Main Street.  ...and for you it means that the Free Comic Book Day Festival continues in full force!  It takes a few minutes but it helps out your comic book community!  Do your part today!
